Host of the Award-Winning Podcast “Bumper’s Wacky Wednesday”
Bumper Gomez is the dynamic host behind Bumper’s Wacky Wednesday, an award-winning weekly podcast that has become a beloved platform in the Tejano music world. A proud retired U.S. Marine with a global service record, Bumper traded military life for a new mission: celebrating and preserving Tejano culture through meaningful conversations, great music, and unforgettable interviews.
Launched during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bumper’s Wacky Wednesday began as a casual Facebook Live stream. What started with a playlist, a microphone, and Bumper’s signature charisma quickly grew into a vibrant cultural hub. His goal was simple—bring people together through music—and week after week, he delivered.
With over 35,000 dedicated followers across Facebook and YouTube, the podcast has become a trusted gathering place for fans, artists, and promoters. Bumper has interviewed some of the biggest names in Tejano and Regional Mexican music, including David Lee Garza, Secretto, Jennifer Peña, Bobby Pulido, Grupo Siggno, Michael Salgado, Intocable, and Little Joe. His honest, engaging style and deep love for the music have made the show a go-to platform for both legends and rising stars.
As the podcast celebrates its fifth anniversary in 2025, its reach has grown far beyond its San Antonio roots. Special episodes have been filmed in iconic locations like Las Vegas and Milwaukee, home to the largest Mexican Fiesta in the country. Wherever he goes, Bumper brings people together through shared stories, laughter, and the powerful sounds of Tejano.
A signature theme of the show is Quita Penas—a reminder to let go of worries and enjoy the moment. It’s a reflection of what Bumper’s Wacky Wednesday is all about: culture, connection, and community.
Bumper Gomez continues to push the boundaries of independent broadcasting, proudly shining a spotlight on the artists, fans, and traditions that make Tejano music so timeless.
Eddy Hernandez was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, surrounded by the rich sounds of Tejano music. His passion was deeply rooted at home, where his father owned Puro Tejano Productions—a company known for organizing Tejano dances across Illinois. This family legacy continued with the opening of Discoteca Mi Pueblo, a family-run music store that served the community for over 13 years and became a cornerstone of Eddy’s musical upbringing
At a young age, Eddy began DJing alongside his brother, which helped expand their presence in the regional music scene and forge strong industry connections. One of those connections led him to Mark Garcia, owner of TejanoFM.com, where Eddy became an on-air personality and voice in Tejano radio for several years.
In 2010, Eddy relocated to San Antonio, Texas, bringing his Tejano roots with him. In 2023, he met Bumper Gomez through mutual friends, and soon after, was invited to become the producer for Bumper’s Wacky Wednesday. Now, with over a year of dedication, Eddy plays a key role in the continued growth and success of the podcast—bringing Tejano culture and community to audiences across the country.
